  1. What about syncing???
Automatic syncing of special folders like the photo folder is about the only feature I care about, and it´s not included yet??
Look at the Spotify client and see how it handles syncing of music depending on wifi/3g connectivity etc.
And the Google+ app already does syncing!

  2. But still no link in the share dialog...

  3. Folder sync would be THE nicest feature indeed!

+ it would be great to be able for a friend of mine with whom i'm sharing a folder to donwload the complete folder without being a wuala user.... For the moment, i have to zip my files in an archive to share them...

  4. It crashes for me a lot. I'm using it just like for the older versions, i.e. going to my photos folder and look at pictures. It'll show one picture, then, if I either try to move to the next picture it'll show it for a sec then crash, or simply turn the phone around from portrait to landscape (with the same picture).

But it's not consistent. I can sometimes view the second picture OK, then at the third it switches to 'loading', and boom: Restart.

It's _really_ not consistent.. I tried another folder, I can move from photo to photo OK, then back to the first one, same problem.

  5. @Tor: Thanks for your feedback. These are out of memory crashes -> its on my list for this release.

  6. Woohoo! Good progress Wuala team :-)
With folder sync and option to sync only over WLAN it would be perfect for me: backup and transfer pictures for further processing, transfer podcast and music from home PC.

    Thanks!

  7. I've just updated the apk linked in the blog post. The latest version fixes the following issues:

    - slideshow: needs less memory. Should fix the issue Tor described above
    - slideshow: do not scale up images if they are smaller than the screen
    - slideshow: smoother image loading

  8. I'm testing the new version now, and so far there are no crashes.. but..
it's not very attractive, the pictures are now basically small images only using a small part of the screen, so I can't use Wuala as a photoalbum anymore.
Your comment says 'do not scale up images if they are smaller than the screen'. But the original images are much larger than the screen, of course, so what it is that is made smaller? Because the way it used to be was that at first showing the picture would be the screen size, but pixelised, then after half a second or a second the pixelasation went away and the image looked good (I was about to post a problem report of the previous version that sometimes the de-pixelasation didn't happen, but then 2.0-test was announced).

  9. I agree. This last fix wasn't properly tested :( images larger than the display should of course use the whole screen (and also their thumbnails with low resolution).

    I'll fix that on Monday.

But good to know that it doesn't crash anymore!

  10. ok, with the latest version images should use the whole screen again. However, this also means that for the moment small images are scaled up again.

  11. This latest version works great!
Images are alright, and I have also tested logging out and then logging in again when offline, works fine! Images are also OK when watching them online. So far I haven't found anything to complain about for this latest version. Good stuff! Better than any previous version, including the 1.x series.

  12. Correction for my last comment: I meant to say
"Images are also OK when watching the _offline_", which was kind of the point.. sorry about the typo.

  13. This version crashes all the time. Just tried looking on some pics i uploaded with my mac, and its like tor said. Crashed also while trying to upload a new pic from my mobile to wuala. Think this needs quite some work before releasing it.

  14. @Sebastian,
Are you sure you're testing the very latest version? There has been three (that I know of) versions posted as the same link (and name) in the blog. The first one crashed all the time, the two last ones I tried don't crash, and the latest does everything I've asked for.
The timestamp of the .apk which works for me is Aug 19 16:33 UTC. It's the latest afaik, and the one I use now.
The timestamp of the one that crashed is Aug 18 08:59 UTC.
The first one that fixed the crash but, unfortunately, showed tiny images was Aug 19 13:56 UTC.

  15. Hm, there is just possibly a severe battery problem here.. but it may be entirely coincidental and I will do more testing. It's just that the last two mornings a fully charged phone was empty of charge, and that's completely abnormal. Not connected to anything (no network, and no SIM), but Wuala was running (as normal).
But, as I said, it could be coincidence and not related to the Wuala installation: Some Google services auto-upgraded themselves at the same time I installed the latest Wuala.

  16. @Tor: Thanks for your feedback. I'll check the battery issue. However, my dev phone was on the entire weekend with Wuala running and has still about 30% of battery remaining.

@Sebastian: as already Tor asked, are you using the latest version? All (known) bugs in the slideshow are fixed in the latest test version and I didn't get any other bugreports so far.

  17. After more testing I tentatively conclude that the increased battery usage I've observed for an idle device (not cell connected) is not caused by Wuala activating the CPU but by the updated Google services which doesn't seem to understand to stay quiet if there's no SIM card (instead it appears to try to find a cell signal all the time).

In short, Wuala 2.0 (still) looks great.

  18. Thanks, I made the same observations on my dev phone. 9% battery usage in 12 hours (Wuala running an d user logged in) which is ok.

There are still some minor issues with v2.0, but we are heading for the official release, the finish line is close...

  19. I've done more testing. Found the real cause of the battery problem, upgraded the problematic part, have been running Wuala last 24 hours and there's for sure no battery problem with Wuala. No problems to report about at all, looks pretty release-ready to me.

  20. Well. The time-limited test version stopped working (as per spec), but the version from the market is still 1.x. What's the ETA for the official 2.0? Got kind of attached to it :-)
