I recently bought a new MacBook Air and I thought that it would be nice to have access to some music while working, studying or travelling. Luckily Wuala gives us the sync feature, which is just perfect for this case.
Getting started
First, I set up a sync job on device A and on device B (here is how to do that, I always synced the path to the iTunes folder, if you don't know where that is, take a look here).
Here you can see the two devices, on which my sync task is running:
To show you that this works, I created a new playlist on device A...
..and added a song.
Wuala automatically recognized the new file and synced it, I didn't have to do anything.
Then I checked on device B and you can see that the song is already synced.
After that I opened iTunes on device B, and it automatically opened with the new playlist, including the new song.
That was quite easy and done very quickly. Of course it takes a little time to sync when you have lots of music (or apps which are stored in the same folder too). But after the initial sync, everything works really fast and I have my music wherever I go.
Important: iTunes can not be used on two or more systems at the same time. Make sure that you closed iTunes on device A and wait until the sync has finished, before opening iTunes on device B

I assume this is Mac to Mac with no PC involved? Is this syncing your playcounts, ratings and what not as well?
ReplyDeleteLastly, why not just host the iTunes library all together from Wuala and save some storage on your Macbook Air, where storage is limited?
You should add a clearly visible warning that iTunes cannot be used on two or more systems at the same time.
ReplyDeleteYou can clone an iTunes library with Wuala and other tools, i.e., you close iTunes on computer 1 and do not open iTunes on computer 2 before the library has been fully cloned. Everything else will mess up your iTunes library.
@Martin - you're right, I updated the post. Thank you.
ReplyDeletethanks. that destroyed my iphone sync and made me rearrange all my apps again.
ReplyDelete---> don't do that sync if you sync your iphone with iTunes.
It only make sense, if wuala included the delta upload. it does not make sense to upload GB Data only if i song is added.
ReplyDelete@nonymous I've had the same thing when syncing my iPhone with iTunes (had to rearrange all my apps), so it's more likely that this problem is related to Apple.
